I awoke this morning to some exciting news. I was already pumped, along with the rest of the country, that tomorrow we will witness the inauguration of Barak Obama as our new president. I hope that his entry into the highest office in the land can begin the path for economic recovery we are all hoping for. It seems like all you hear these days is bad news!
But what I am referring to is great news! The folks at Mobile Monday have nominated Soonr as one of 8 companies in the USA for the Mobile Peer Awards! This was picked up by the folks at VentureBeat. The winners of this award will be announced at GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain in February.
Soonr’s vision of a personal cloud that is accessed from any mobile device is resonating with users. It was just a “geeky” thing at first, but it looks like it’s moving into the mainstream. Whether it’s called “cloud computing”, “remote access”, “sharing”, or whatever; the important thing is that the idea of storing information in the Internet and accessing from a phone or netbook is no longer far fetched. We have rolled out services with several European telcos and we hope that the US companies will pick up the baton and carry this idea forward in the USA.
If you are going to GSMA (i.e. your company has not instituted a travel ban), please do look us up. We will be at the “B Hotel” just across from the convention center, courtesy of our friends at Intel (who is also an investor).
