Windows vs. Mac – Adding a feature

We have some wicked good developers here at Soonr. They have been hard at work making Soonr integrate smoothly into the OS. Recently we have begun testing webdav support. OK, you engineers know what this is. For us normal folks, it’s basically the ability to have a web based folder act like a normal network folder on your desktop.

So after a lot of work, we finally get the instructions for a user to implement webdav support with Soonr. How many steps does it take?

This about sums it up.

What’s this? Windows is going backwards in ease of use with Vista taking 4 more steps than XP! Mac users have a nice easy 1-2-3 approach and they are done.

Well, that about sums up the state of affairs in the OS wars. I am sincerely hoping that with Windows 7, Microsoft will be paying more attention to making things easier for the user! That coupled with a general performance improvement and I just may continue to be a Windows kinda guy.
